So this is a song I just wrote about Ohio. I grew up there for about 11 1/2 years, but it's slowly just faded away as memories and other than a few strong attachments (friends....Danny, being a big one), it's almost become just some idea of home -- which has faded away. Although, I never thought it would. Again, hopefully ya'll might find it on a CD sometime to listen to.
Ohio
Ohio, I've been seeing clear for a while
Skies are blue and wide
A sunset set falls on me each night
Good friends and places where we went
Have passed through my head
A few remain but most are dead
Ohio, it's true what they say
Homes with the heart
Mines moved to Tennessee
Chalk nights, and 20,000 lines
Back when love was blind
A piece of me I left behind
'nd back when, there was an old dark road
When lonely, I'd go
Night walking with forgotten ghosts
But now, I'm a ghost on that street
A lost history
So I'm hoping that you're missing me
A shame, but my hearts moved a way
Although I'm back in one place
Ohio, girl, this love has waned
I'm sorry, that's all I can give
I've been fighting now with this
Since back when the feeling left
Ohio, I've been seeing clear for a while
Skies are blue and wide
I know it's time to say goodbye...
