We loved St. Vincent's stellar Strange Mercy, and now it's time for the inevitable tour. No word on who'll be supporting the wonderful Annie Clark on this tour, but at this point in time, we don't care. Anything else is the icing on the cake. So, take a few sheckels in the spring, and catch St. Vincent shred her way across the states at one of the following tour dates:

Stream the New Gonjasufi Mini-Album...

January 20th, 2012
Some of us here at The Milk Carton were so invigorated by the unique sounds of Sumach Ecks' debut as the mysterious acid tinged Gonjasufi that we have pre-ordered his new mini album MU.ZZ.LE on every format it is to be released on. The long wait for the 24th of January is nearly over but just in case your patience runs out before then, the entire album is streaming now over at the Fader.

First listens suggest a darker affair than 2010's A...

The Black Dahlia Murder Plot Second...

January 17th, 2012
Detroit's most brutal sons The Black Dahlia Murder put out a punishing album last year in Ritual, and they won't be hesitating to bring the brutality to the road. Coming along are the Egyptian-themed veterans Nile and TMC favorites Skeletonwitch. All three bands are renowned for their intense live shows, and I see no reason to think they've let up at all. Dates are as follows:

Tour Dates:

Mar. 24 - Grand Rapids, MI - The Intersection
Mar. 25 - Milwaukee, WI - Eagles Club
Mar. 26 - Minneapolis, MN - Station 4
Mar. 27 - Chicago, IL - Bottom Lounge
Mar. 29 - Denver, CO -...

While it seems like everyone is making plans to get down to SXSW every year, we forget that the bands have to physically get there. In the initial lineup, the festival's announced The War on Drugs, Grimes, Caveman, Oberhofer, Prince Rama, The Love Language, The Men, The Knocks and dozens more will be making appearances on their way to Austin. Iowa City's Mission Creek Festival is pulling out all the stops for its 2012 iteration. In addition to the solid first round announcements of The Magnetic Fields, David Cross, William Fitzsimmons, The War on Drugs and more, the organization has brought up a second thunderous round of artists. New additions include William Elliott Whitmore / Justin Townes-Earle, Seun Kuti & Egypt 80, Tim Hecker, comedians Jon Benjamin (of Archer Fame!) and Jon Glaser (of Delocated Fame!), and Black Milk. Flying Lotus to Release New Album This...

January 14th, 2012
Speculation is abound on Twitter this week; first Fang Island hint cryptically as to the release date of their new album (37 days and counting by our reckoning) and now Flying Lotus has announced via his feed that he will be dropping the follow up to the critically acclaimed and TMC favourite Cosmogramma sometime in April and debuting it at the Coachella festival.

This is exciting news indeed as the jump from Los Angeles to Cosmogramma was interplanetary, we...

Fang Island New LP Due Soon?

January 13th, 2012
After announcing just before Christmas that they will be releasing a new album in 2012, excitable, high-fiving math rockers Fang Island yesterday tweeted the number 39 on their Twitter feed. Nothing official has been announced but using a bit of mathematical skill we deduced that this could mean a release date of Tuesday 21st of February.

That leaves just enough time to re-familiarise yourself with one of our favourite albums of 2010, the band's self-titled debut and get ready...

One Hit Wonderful: The Curious Case of Reel Big Fish

Shortly before the holidays, I made the one-hundred mile trek to Des Moines, IA to see long-time favorites of mine Reel Big Fish and Streetlight Manifesto perform live. While I love Streetlight Manifesto and cannot wait until I’m able to hear new material from the band, my heart was with Reel Big Fish that night. These guys were among the elite few that broke down my preconceived notions of rock music being two guitars, a bass, a drum, and a blues-derived...

At The Drive-In Announces Reunion!

January 9th, 2012
2012 has its first "Holy Shit" moment with the announcement that the massively influential At the Drive-In has reformed. Lead singer Cedric Bixler-Zavala has been hinting at a potential reunion for years during his time with The Mars Volta, but a bizarre tweet sent today from the band's official account has sent the music world spinning.

The band slowly but surely won its fanbase with its psychedelic take on the hardcore music of the 1980s as well as an extremely energetic live show. The band broke up in 2001 just as...
