June 16th, 2010
Anberlin blew us away with their finest album to date, Cities, in 2007 and then found a wider rock audience in 2008 when they debuted their biggest single yet, a remake of "Feel Good Drag" for New Surrender. They will return with new music this fall as their fifth full-length Dark Is The Way, Light Is A Place will land in record stores on September 21 via Universal Republic. Get all of the juicy details through the full press release below.

Columbus, Ohio's indie rock station CD101 will be celebrating their 20th anniversary this year with a huge Summerfest event that will be headlined by Spoon and feature The Cribs (with Johnny Marr!), Matt & Kim, and more on as support. Tickets are $20 and the show will take place on Monday, August 9th at the LC Pavilion. Will be a good way to follow up Lollapalooza for those hitting Chicago that weekend or who will miss the festival and can get a small piece of it here.

Donavon Frankenreiter 'Revisits' East...

June 16th, 2010
Always up to something, singer-songwriter and professional surfer, Donavon Frankenreiter, has announced summer tour dates in support of his releases Revisited (in stores yesterday!) and upcoming LP Glow, which hasn't received a release date yet.

Donavon's tour starts off at the end of this month in Ft. Lauderdale, and then follows the coastline North to Massachusetts. He also has a slot scheduled for Japan's Fuji Rock Fest, and Denver's Mile High Fest in August. "I am so...

Interpol To Release Fourth Full-Length On...

June 16th, 2010
Interpol have announced the release of their self-titled fourth studio album on September 14 via Matador, who released the band's debut and sophomore records. The indie rockers recently had to cancel a slew of dates due to the cancellation of their US tour with U2 and the departure of bassist Carlos D, but ex-Slint member David Pajo has stepped up to the plate to cover bass duties while Brandon Curtis of Secret Machines will join live on keyboards and vocals.

Sleigh Bells Map Out Headlining Summer Tour

June 10th, 2010
Brooklyn-based brain-melters Sleigh Bells have been making a lot of noise (no pun intended) since their much-ballyhooed set at this year's South by Southwest, and they've finally announced a headlining tour of their own. Their debut album Treats is racking up accolades all across the blogosphere and world in general, and I don't feel it's too much of a stretch to think these guys won't be playing clubs for long. Coming along for the freak-out are Nerve City and Popo, with some coheadlining shows with Die Antwoord later in the run. Check them out this summer at:

Bonnaroo Artist to Watch #3: Circa Survive

June 8th, 2010
Regardless of what you may think about the nature of the ‘Roo, the festival has proven to be very dexterous when dealing with different genres of live music. While starting out as the paradigm of jam band silliness, Bonnaroo has morphed into a microcosm of America: melting pot of musical taste that cover West Coast Rap, Jam, Metal, Prog, and (gasp!) Emo.

While emo still goes largely unrepresented (Taking Back Sunday/ Brand New aren’t going this year, tear), there are small exceptions that prove the ‘Roo is willing to step into the heart-core audience once in a while. Rockers Manchester Orchestra from three years ago, Minus the...

Lollapalooza Releases 2010 Schedule!

June 8th, 2010
So as I'm in the midst of semi-finalizing my schedule for Bonnaroo this weekend (it never goes exactly as you plan, which is often a good thing), Lollapalooza has unveiled their 2010 schedule, which pits headliners The Strokes vs. Lady GaGa on Friday, Phoenix vs. Green Day on Saturday, and Arcade Fire vs. Soundgarden on Sunday. Seems like they made it pretty easy for everyone. As for conflicts, it is a bit cruel that Empire Of The Sun's first US show is the same time as the Saturday night headliners. Mavis Staples vs. Raphael Saadiq seem like two of the more...

Bonnaroo Artist to Watch #2: Baroness

June 6th, 2010
At a festival like Bonnaroo, you’re going to see just about every genre of music and entertainment known to man. For years, the festival has been getting more and more eclectic with every incarnation. You’ll see singer-songwriters, rappers, arena-rockers, and every sort of jam band under the sun, but up until recently, you’d be hard-pressed to find any metal or hard rock at all. We’re all part of a culture that respects, nay, DEMANDS that a music connoisseur be well-versed in all sorts of genres, but metal is still the red-headed stepchild of the music world. If your mental image of metal looks and sounds like King Diamond, take some...

Yeasayer Add Fall Dates For 'Odd Blood'

June 3rd, 2010
Ever since they released the love-it-or-hate-it sophomore album Odd Blood (review here), Brooklyn-based Yeasayer have been touring like their lives depended on it. Perhaps they want to pound the album into the heads of the non-believers, perhaps they truly are the vagrants that the sound of All Hour Cymbals suggested, or perhaps they really like playing. Whatever the case may be, the band is on the road for a very large part of 2010. After hitting Europe, Australia, Lollapalooza, and Europe again, the band will be back in the U.S....
